Lin Jinghong, a modern young woman, accidentally transmigrates into a novel set in the 1970s, becoming a doomed cannon-fodder big sister. Faced with terrible relatives and a life of hardship, she refuses to accept her fate or bow her head. She protects her family, helps her fellow villagers, builds a new house, and gradually goes from constantly bickering to building a life together with the educated youth Su Zhaoying. Once she has established herself, she organizes a collective livestock-breeding venture, helping the villagers increase their incomes and turning her once-doomed life into a vibrant new beginning.
