In 1984, the reborn Lin Wan immediately tore up her engagement, shaking off the patriarchal and exploitative Zhao family. Relying on her hand-rolled pancake making skills to set up a stall and start her own business, she partnered with veteran Lu Zheng, stepping up from a roadside stall to running a food processing factory and driving employment for women across the village. Facing the Zhao family's repeated rumors and sabotage, she stood her ground with evidence and strength, ultimately reaping success in career and love, and living to become a rural female leader in getting rich.
