Chen Ye is a mountain forager who, through Aunt Gui Xiang's matchmaking, takes over the heavily indebted Su family. He must repay their 80-yuan debt, repair their broken-down tractor, and shoulder the burden of providing for the sisters, Su Xiaoke and Xiao Rou. Relying on his exceptional mountain-foraging skills, he ventures deep into the forests of the Greater Khingan Mountains, where he digs up matsutake mushrooms and catches wild boars and Chinese forest frogs. Unexpectedly, he also discovers a treasure map made of sheepskin that his father-in-law, Su Shoushan, left behind. During his treasure hunt in the mountains, Chen Ye follows the traditional rules of mountain foraging and repeatedly risks his life to save fellow villagers with ulterior motives. After narrowly surviving a flash flood and landslide, he finds Su Shoushan, who had been missing for half a year and was trapped deep in the mountains.
