Twenty years ago, eight-year-old Lin Xiaoyu stole leftovers from customers at a noodle shop every evening just to feed her young brother. Zhao Chunlai, the shop owner, saw through it without exposing her, quietly placing two bowls of hot noodles by the back door instead. A desperate cry for help on a snowy night softens the sharp-tongued yet kind Zhang Xiulan, who also takes the siblings in. Yet with a critical illness, greedy relatives fighting over demolition compensations, and relentless gossip and reports, the home sustained by bowls of noodles faces trial after trial. Zhao Chunlai and his wife risk everything, even going to court, to protect the children and raise them to succeed. Years later, Lin Xiaoyu returns in glory, finally calling out that long-delayed word: "Mom."
