A Broken-String Kite, Empty and Desolate
Lu Yuan, heir to the Lu Group, and Lin Yimiao, a market stall vendor, once eloped for love and had a daughter, Jiajia. But their happiness was short-lived. Lu Yuan unexpectedly suffered a ruptured spleen and became critically ill. To protect the family's interests, his mother, Fang Hua, used his medical expenses as leverage to force the couple apart, falsely claiming that Lin Yimiao had abandoned him and taken their daughter with her. Unconvinced, Lu Yuan searched for them at their rented home, only to witness the aftermath of a car accident involving his wife and daughter. Mistakenly believing they had fallen to their deaths over a cliff, he was plunged into endless grief.
