A Civil Service Exam Instructor Teaches the Imperial Examinations, Producing a Court Full of Civil and Military Officials
Chen Wen, a top civil service exam instructor from the modern era, transmigrates into the body of a poor scholar in the Great Xia dynasty. He starts with nothing but a dilapidated academy and three troublesome students whom no private school would accept. Drawing on his civil service exam expertise, he revolutionizes education by using logic to break down the rigid eight-legged essay format and training students in policy analysis and essay writing. Leading his disciples to claim first place in the county, prefectural, academy, and provincial examinations one after another, he humiliates prestigious academies and renowned Confucian scholars. Chen Wen introduces simplified taxation, establishes newspapers, and issues silk bonds, bringing down powerful Jiangnan merchants and Wei Lin, the powerful eunuch in charge of the Directorate of Ceremonial's brush office. In the end, all his disciples become important officials at court, while Chen Wen himself rises from humble beginnings to become the undisputed uncrowned Imperial Mentor of Great Xia.
