A sudden overnight torrential downpour plunges the three villages of Qingshiwan, Liushuwan, and Hexizhuang into a flood crisis. In the dead of night, a white-scaled pangolin knocks on the door to sound the alarm, guiding the villagers to uncover an old waterway and an ancient riverbed floodgate buried for decades. At first, villagers from the three areas clash fiercely as each side fights to protect their own land and water. Led by Zhou Shouyi and Xu Lanniang, they follow the pangolin's guidance to inspect the waterways, clear blockages, and repair the embankment and gate. Gradually putting aside their selfish interests, the people unite against the flood, bridging village divides through repeated perils, mastering water-control methods, and safeguarding the river and homeland they have relied on for generations.
