Transmigrator Xia Ren is trapped in Yingtian Prison, claiming he can save Empress Ma. He exposes that Dai Sigong added albizia bark to her medicine and that Lady Lu hid oleander powder in pastries, while also predicting the fates of founding generals like Xu Da and Li Wenzhong. After Zhu Yuanzhang verifies these claims, he adopts Xia Ren's methods—using strong spirits for disinfection and drawing blood from smallpox survivors to create an antitoxin—to successfully rescue Empress Ma. Simultaneously, Zhu Yuanzhang investigates Hu Weiyong's conspiracy with the Zheng and Xie clans to hoard grain and revolt, capturing Hu Weiyong, hunting down the fleeing head of the Zheng clan, and uncovering Lady Lu's scheme of ordering a young eunuch to force Hu Weiyong's suicide. Despite his monumental contributions, Xia Ren only requests to return to ordinary civilian life, reminding Zhu Yuanzhang before departing to keep a watchful eye on Lan Yu's military power and instructing on Empress Ma's follow-up medication.
