Lucky Star Lin Xiaoman
In the bitter winter of 1976, the Lin family in Poor Water Village has been without food for two days. Their four-year-old youngest daughter has only just been brought back from the brink of death, and the whole family's hope of survival is fading. The Gu family offers a bride price of 120 yuan, two bags of white flour, and ten jin of pork, on the condition that their daughter marry their frail, chronically ill only son, Gu Yanci. Looking at her parents with tear-stained eyes and her younger siblings trembling with hunger, Lin Xiaoman speaks up voluntarily: "I'll marry him." Carrying her simple luggage onto the wedding car, she has only one thought: if she no longer has to worry about going hungry, her younger siblings will have a chance to survive. After marrying into the Gu family, she uses her hardworking hands to gradually put their household back on its feet, bringing warmth and vitality to a family that was once shrouded in gloom.
