Ancient God of War Xuan Chen fails his heavenly tribulation and crashes into an old residential community in Henan. With ninety-nine percent of his divine powers sealed, he speaks fluent Henan dialect. Playing chess with Uncle Wang in the pavilion creates an amusing contrast. His nemesis, Demon Lord Shi Yuan, descends to mortal earth to hunt him down, only to be captivated by mundane street food. Watching the God of War play chess with the elderly neighbor, the aloof Demon Lord repeatedly has his icy composure shattered by the simple joys of mortal life. As conflicts between immortal and demon escalate, a world-shaking battle unfolds right in the wet market. Ultimately, Xuan Chen declines Heaven's summons and renounces his divine throne to stay among mortals, proving that the warmth of human life outshines the nine heavens.
