Orphan girl Lin Wan was sold by her aunt Li Dacui for 1,000 yuan to marry the mentally disabled son of village head Zhao Jinlong. After enduring immense torment, she fled to the county town. At her wit's end, she received help from Sister Qin, a team leader at the textile mill. Relying on her sewing craftsmanship, she gained a foothold at the factory, seized the apparel market trends of the 1980s, and built a fashion business empire step by step from selling cloth scraps on a street stall. Years later, Zhao Jinlong and Li Dacui attempted extortion and cut off raw material supplies, but both schemes were thwarted by Lin Wan. Returning home in triumph, she exposed their human trafficking and corruption, bringing them to justice under the law, and established a special fund to support rural women, completing an ultimate counterattack.
