Xie Zhiyi, the daughter of a scholar in Apricot Blossom Village, is knowledgeable and quick-witted. She sets up mechanisms to catch wild boars, but instead accidentally rescues Pei Yan, the heavily injured Emperor traveling in disguise. While regretting letting the wild boar get away, she greedily and lustfully tends to him, completely unaware that the man before her is none other than the reigning monarch. Enlightened by Pei Yan, she resolves to take the imperial examination for women, advancing all the way from the provincial exams to become the first female top scholar of the Dayanyan Dynasty. Entering official service, she builds dikes to control floods, investigates corruption in the salt transportation, and promotes new laws, bringing happiness to the common people. From appreciation to deep affection, the Emperor paves the way and helps her ascend to heights, and she finally displays her soaring ambitions.
