Eight months pregnant, Xu Zhitang was driven out to her parents' home overnight by her mother-in-law just so her sister-in-law could return to recuperate after childbirth. Returning from a business trip, her husband Zhou Yan uncovered that his mother and sister had embezzled their savings, misused her identification documents, forged debts, and even plotted an accident against her for three million in insurance money. He signed a matrilocal marriage agreement, severed ties with the Zhou family, and stood by her to fight back to the end. After the baby was born, the child took the mother's surname Xu, and she finally reclaimed control of her own life.
