The Second Wife and Matriarch Quits - Season 2
In her previous life, the Old Madam toiled tirelessly for the Earl's household, supporting the entire family with her own dowry, only to be betrayed by her husband, stepson, and daughter-in-law, ultimately dying alone in illness. Reborn into a new life, she completely sees through it all and refuses to worry about anyone else ever again. Taking back her wealth and ceasing to subsidize the Earl's manor, she eats whatever she pleases, buys whatever she fancies, and directly rebukes anyone who provokes her. Without the Old Madam's money and protection, the Gu family gradually plunges into dire straits. The spoiled Gu Shiming constantly stirs up trouble, eventually causing Gu Shenghua to be stripped of his noble title, reducing the entire family to commoners and driving them deeper into destitution. Meanwhile, the Old Madam has long moved out of the Gu family to live a life that truly belongs to herself.
