A Spoonful of Sour Bamboo Shoots, Ending Five Years of Business
After a late-night shift, Zeng Liqi only wants a hot bowl of rice noodles and an extra spoonful of sour bamboo shoots. Instead, the restaurant owner publicly tells him to get lost, bringing five years of late-night business to an abrupt end. He turns around and applies to add Xiulan's Luosifen shop as a new option, letting employees choose for themselves. Fifty-one bowls of noodles change hands overnight. The owner slashes prices while shrinking portions, spreads rumors, files false reports, and blocks the entrance to plead her case, but every move fails. Then a bag of expired tofu skin destroys her own reputation. Supplies are cut off, the shop closes, and the lease is terminated. An eight-year-old business collapses just like that. Five years of business together come to an end over a single spoonful of sour bamboo shoots.
