In Qingshi Town of Great Yan, years of severe drought hit hard. The village tyrant Zhao Fugui cuts off the water supply to seize the villagers' farmlands. Lin Yan, an agricultural genius, joins forces with his younger sister and close friend. Using advanced agronomic knowledge, they build a wind-powered dragon-bone waterwheel to draw groundwater, adopt rice-duck farming to combat locusts, improve plows, build greenhouses, and create treadle threshers. Shen Qingqing of the merchant firm partners with him to break the grain monopolists. Zhao Fugui tries poisoning crops and sabotaging greenhouses multiple times, but every scheme is thwarted. Lin Yan shares his farming techniques and fertilizer formulas freely, helping villagers boost their income. His high-yield agricultural methods earn praise from the county magistrate, leading to the county-wide promotion of his tools and seeds. Lin Yan continues researching modern fertilizers and machinery, aiming to transform barren lands across the realm and ignite an agricultural revolution.
