After Spending a Million on Renovations, the Landlord Raises the Rent
Late at night, Lin Yuan brings 300,000 yuan in rent to his uncle's home, only to find his newly renovated hotpot restaurant, which he has just invested over a million yuan in, facing a crisis. Lin Guodong calmly sips his tea and says they need to renegotiate, while Liu Guixiang puts down her knitting and remarks sarcastically that those were the old rental terms. Through Lin Yuan's inner monologue, we learn that three years earlier, when his uncle's grandson fell ill and the family needed money, Lin Yuan generously rented their poorly located storefront at a high price and signed a ten-year lease. Now, in only the third year of the agreement, his relatives are already going back on their word and demanding higher rent. The conflict between family kindness and financial self-interest suddenly intensifies.
