At the teacher-appreciation banquet, science top scorer Zhao Huaiye suddenly announced that he would repeat the senior year for impoverished student Ji Ran, morally guilting liberal arts top scorer Song Xinian to join them. Song Xinian rejected him on the spot and exposed that she had only used him to study. Refusing to come to his senses, Zhao Huaiye ran away from home with Ji Ran, causing his mother to suffer a stroke. Running into Song Xinian, who had become an outstanding university student, Zhao Huaiye was left in utter regret.
