During a harsh winter of famine, Song Changqing takes his nine younger sisters into the mountains with nothing but the clothes on their backs to protect them. After performing a good deed that awakens Yun Zhao, the mountain god, he is granted the extraordinary talent to borrow the powers of a hundred beasts. By foraging in the mountains for food, repairing houses, and establishing a meat-processing business, he transforms a drafty, ruined temple into a mountain-produce trading post with the help of Chen Tiesheng and the villagers. With his fists and sense of responsibility, he also drives away wicked relatives, clan elders, and the merchant tyrant Hu Wanchang, ensuring his sisters have enough to eat, warm clothes to wear, and the opportunity to grow up educated.
