Su Wan, an orphan living during the Great Xuan Dynasty, is ostracized by her relatives and forced by the villagers to take in a strange-looking, amnesiac young man named A Xing as her companion. The two are driven to settle in the barren Black Mountain. A Xing possesses extraordinary powers that allow him to improve the soil and cultivate crops, but using these abilities comes at the cost of his own strength. As they face repeated harassment from their neighbors and the greed of powerful figures at court, A Xing regains his memories during a moment of crisis and discovers that he is actually an interstellar prince. Su Wan and her companions travel to the capital to expose the corrupt officials' deception and are rewarded with land. When an extraterrestrial fleet approaches, A Xing gives up his chance to return home and chooses to stay in his adopted homeland, reclaiming wasteland and building a life alongside Su Wan.
