Tormented in the cold palace, lowly palace maid Chun'er encounters Jinbao, the chief eunuch before the imperial presence who received kindness from her in childhood. The two form a symbiotic bond through sweet treats, silver, and protection. Jinbao teaches her the harsh rules of survival in the palace, while Chun'er comes to see him as her entire world. Amidst this treacherous court chessboard, Chun'er gradually transforms from a downtrodden maid into Jinbao's trusted partner. Becoming each other's bait, armor, and weakness, they nurture a genuine, unbreakable bond born from calculation at the very bottom of the palace.
