Based on the folk legend of Bare-Tailed Old Li, this drama recounts the epic journey of Li Hei, a farm youth who is the reincarnation of a true dragon. Born with scales, he was shunned by his entire village. Though he revealed his miraculous nature by saving lives during a flash flood, he was framed by Daoist Priest Chongxu—an avatar of the White Dragon King. His own father severed his dragon tail, casting him out into exile. In his darkest hour, he was met with kindness by Gu Qingyi, and love blossomed between them. Unmasking the White Dragon's scheme to monopolize mortals' incense offerings, Li Hei fell into the river, awakening his divine dominion over water. He marched north to quell devastating floods and slew the false deity at the White Dragon River. Bestowed the title of Black Dragon King by the Heavenly Court for his fulfilled merits, he nonetheless refused to part with his mortal mother and soulmate, returning to his ancestral land to resolve all past grudges.
