In a year of catastrophic famine, the land of Huangni Village is barren, and hunger looms over everyone. Su Wan, an orphaned girl who knows the art of agriculture, withstands the villagers' doubts to seek good seeds, improve the soil, and build dams, fighting the severe drought with scientific farming. From trial-planting sweet potatoes and breeding high-yield crops to leading the villagers in setting up workshops and rebuilding their homes, she provides relief through labor for displaced refugees. Despite jealous plots by local gentry and sabotage by bandits, Su Wan uses her wisdom to resolve every crisis, making the barren wasteland yield grain, leading the whole village out of poverty, spreading fertile seeds throughout the realm, and putting an end to the famine.
