Beast Play Breaks the Golden Branch and Jade Leaf (61 episodes)

On her sixteenth birthday, A'nan, the daughter of a beast tamer, watched with her own eyes as Princess Yong'an deliberately used a red silk cloth to provoke a tiger into mauling her father, Lin Yuanshan, to death during a beast show. Later, A'nan changed her name to Lanqiu and infiltrated the princess's manor as a maid. Using the art of beast training to set her trap, she exploited the feud between the princess and the empress to weaken the princess through the empress's hands; she preyed on the princess's obsessive possessiveness over the emperor to make her dismantle her own defenses step by step; and she leveraged the emperor's dread of secrets to alienate the princess from everyone around her. Three years later, the princess was stripped of her royal rank, falling into ruin by her own hand. Lanqiu then assumed Princess Yong'an's name to marry into the Xiongnu as the Grand Khatun, joining forces from north to south with Empress Su Wenyun, who ruled behind the curtain, to bring peace and end the flames of war between the two nations.
