Qin Guangyao picks up a portrait of a beautiful woman. Ignoring his roommate Qi Zhuo's warnings, he begins an ambiguous online romance with Qiao Mengshu, the portrait's owner. Strange events soon follow, and Qin Guangyao grows increasingly haggard, yet he pays them no mind. Qi Zhuo points out that Qiao Mengshu is a mysterious woman from legend and urges Qin Guangyao to cut off contact with her, but Qin remains hopelessly obsessed. Only after witnessing Qiao Mengshu's true appearance with his own eyes does he panic and beg Qi Zhuo to save him. With Qi Zhuo's help, he barely escapes alive, but before long Qin Guangyao falls into Qiao Mengshu's trap once again. When his life hangs by a thread, the truth finally emerges: everything is connected to a mistake Qin Guangyao made several years ago.
