Good Days in the Little Courtyard
When her elder sister runs away from her wedding, Shen Qiaoyun is forced by her parents to marry in her place. Carrying a bundle of fabric scraps, she enters Lu Zhenhua's little courtyard. She thinks that even in a new home, she will still have to bow her head and endure mistreatment. Quando la sorella maggiore fugge dal matrimonio, i genitori costringono Shen Qiaoyun a sposarsi al suo posto. Con un fagotto di ritagli di stoffa, entra nel piccolo cortile di Lu Zhenhua. Crede che, anche cambiando casa, dovrà continuare ad abbassare la testa e sopportare le ingiustizie. Invece, ad attenderla ci sono un pasto caldo portato dalla suocera e le parole del marito: «Lasciatela finire di parlare». Dal cucire solette per scarpe e confezionare grembiuli, fino a macinare latte di soia e aprire un laboratorio di tofu, accumula capitale con le proprie mani e impara gradualmente a dare valore a se stessa. Di fronte alle richieste della famiglia d'origine, alle difficoltà imposte dai parenti e alla sorella che cerca di prendersi il merito del suo lavoro, smette di cedere. Quando l'insegna «Laboratorio di Tofu Qiaoyun» viene appesa alla luce del mattino, il matrimonio iniziato per costrizione è ormai diventato un'unione che entrambi hanno scelto liberamente. Il cortile è piccolo, i pasti sono sempre caldi e una vita felice prende forma giorno dopo giorno.
