Abandoned by her mother at age seven, Deng Zhaoning is unexpectedly visited years later by her mother's adoptive daughter Sun Qianqian and her husband. Falsely claiming that Sun Liwen is gravely ill, they demand one hundred thousand yuan for medical bills and threaten her using the old house's land foundation. After being refused, the pair forge an IOU and a house sale agreement, spread rumors that Deng's late father committed domestic violence, and sneak in with gasoline late at night intending to commit arson. Aided by her close friend Qin Yao, Deng Zhaoning uncovers the truth: the couple fabricated the lie solely to pay off high-interest loan sharks. Deng turns their accomplice Li Rou to her side and exposes the entire fraud before the village committee. Ultimately, Sun Qianqian is taken into custody for multiple crimes, Zhao Kai is detained, and the couple turns completely against each other.
