Shen Jingxiang, the ancestor of the physiognomy sect who has been dormant for sixty years, suddenly awakens at the Du family's ancestral temple opening and seal-unveiling ceremony. He exposes the truth about the Du family stealing the grand physiognomy master seal and using his name to usurp the glory of being the number one physiognomy sect in Jiangnan. Faced with mockery and armed coercion throughout the hall, he calmly confronts them with a cyan bamboo staff, and with the secret assistance of Du Ruoning, the kind and righteous third young miss of the Du family, he step by step tears away the greed and lies beneath the Du family's glossy exterior. As layer after layer of mist is unraveled, everyone finally realizes that the Du family is merely a chess piece in someone else's hands, and Lu Zhaolin, who has been plotting behind the scenes for sixty years, is the true mastermind coveting the supreme treasure, the "Diagram of Reversed Physiognomy".
