In an era where the craft of mechanism thrived, the Mohist School and the Lu Ban lineage established a strict pact: automata could assist mortal labor, but must never possess independent consciousness. A Mohist heir, tasked with hunting down and sealing illicit contraptions, spent three years tracking down a Lu Ban renegade in a desolate frontier town. The renegade created a wooden ox that drank water of its own will, shattering the pact between both sects. A confrontation over the boundaries of mechanization thus begins.
