Gu Zhili lost his sight while rescuing his wife, Shangguan Xi. Shangguan Xi swore to be his eyes for the rest of her life, never abandoning him. Gu Zhili diligently cooperated with his treatment, and on the day his vision was restored, he rushed home full of joy to share the good news with his wife. Instead, he caught her in bed with her male secretary in their own home. Believing her husband was still blind, she even brazenly asked him to fetch contraceptives.
