Mountain Hunting in the 1970s: After Splitting the Household, I Lead the Whole Village to Prosperity
Zhao Shanhe has been mistreated by the Zhao family for over a decade. Kicked out with nothing, he relies on his hunting skills to make a living in the mountains, where he rescues Yulan and her daughter and builds a new family with them. He earns his first fortune selling pine nuts and gastrodia elata, then builds a house and establishes a home. He also helps the entire village find buyers for its blueberries. After enduring schemes by unscrupulous merchants, villagers going back on their word, and a crisis involving spoiled fruit, he establishes a firm rule: no gift boxes until a transfer order is issued. He then brings together more than 200 households from five villages to form a cooperative, earning a net profit of 114,000 yuan in three years. From a man driven out of his home and dismissed as worthless to the pillar of the entire village, Shanhe lives by one principle: the mountain never cheats those who respect it, and people should never betray the mountain. With rules firmly established, life can finally be stable.
