Su Tangtang, owner of a sugar cake shop who loves penning gossipy storybooks, is arrested for writing romance novels based on the cold-faced Grand Tutor Xie Yanci. Expecting disaster, she is instead kept in his manor to continue writing. But when her manuscripts are tampered with under false pretenses, implicating a noble consort, catastrophe strikes. Sharp-tongued yet soft-hearted, Xie Yanci publicly protects her and storms the palace to clear her name. Amid the trials, romantic feelings blossom between them, culminating in Su Tangtang reopening her shop and the two writing the happy ending to their own story.
