As the third-generation stele carver of the Li family, Li Zefeng inherits the ancestral secret sunken-chisel carving technique. Yet due to worldly prejudice, his trade is despised as an unlucky omen of death, causing him to suffer failed blind dates and endless gossip from villagers. To line his own pockets, the village party secretary hires a cheap outside artisan, resulting in erroneous inscriptions and jumbled generations on the ancestral hall's stele. In the face of crisis, the entire village puts aside past prejudices to beg him for help. Holding no grudges, Li Zefeng steps forward to restore the stele and protect his ancestors' legacy. Stunner of all with his unmatched craftsmanship, he turns the tables, is recognized as a provincial intangible cultural heritage inheritor, and steadfastly preserves traditional artisan spirit while reviving the glory of an ancient craft.
