The Eastern Scroll seals the divine beasts of the East, while the Western Scroll imprisons ferocious beasts. Seven years ago, calamity struck as vicious beasts began erasing divine names and hunting down divine beasts; once a name is eradicated, the beast perishes and is forgotten by mortal memory. A youth named Lu Li obtains the remnant of the Eastern Scroll, gaining the power to remember the vanished divine beasts. When Bai Ze is ambushed by the Corpse-Forged Manticore, Lu Li brandishes its name into memory and rushes to Kunlun with Su Ling to seek the Azure Dragon's aid. Narrowly surviving the battle of Kunlun, the Azure Dragon's blood is stolen to awaken the Black Dragon, triggering a war of eradication.
