I'm Su Ruan. I grew up in the picturesque water towns of Jiangnan, but made a bold decision to travel all the way to Tuta in the far northwest to teach at the local town school. Gazing at the vast desert, solitary columns of smoke, snow-capped mountains, and winding rivers, and meeting the simple, kind-hearted locals, I unexpectedly found peace in my heart. I carefully prepared my lessons, visited families, and shared what I had learned with this land. When people asked whether I regretted my decision, I simply smiled and shook my head. In a person's lifetime, there should be at least one meaningful cause worth traveling far away for. The surroundings may be harsh, but the heart grows richer. Once you put down roots in the soil, even the most desolate place can bloom.

Nella vita, tutti dovremmo partire almeno una volta per un luogo lontano, per qualcosa che abbia davvero significato. L'ambiente può essere difficile, ma l'animo si arricchisce. Quando mettiamo radici nella terra, anche il luogo più desolato può riempirsi di fiori.
