In the year 2040, amidst the nuclear-contaminated Blackwater Dead Sea, fishermen A Qiang and Uncle Jianguo accidentally haul up a translucent, glowing blue baby octopus. Driven by greed, second mate Liu Zi sells it to the wealthy tycoon Boss Jin. Enraged, the gargantuan mother octopus of the deep emerges on a rampaging quest for vengeance to find her offspring, obliterating fishing boats and cruise liners alike. To protect their port and loved ones, the two risk everything to reclaim the baby and return it to the ocean just as the behemoth is poised to lay waste to everything. Receiving her young with tender grace, the mother octopus silently slips back into the abyss. Greed inevitably invites disaster, and only by showing reverence for nature can humanity find salvation.
