Chen Mo, a modern graduate student of folklore, dies and possesses the body of Shen Qingwu, the lowest-ranking scribe in the Demon Suppression Division. In her hands is an illustrated tome that devours demons: slaying them grants divine powers, but with each use, her demonification increases. Once fully demonized, she will turn into a demon forever. Within the Demon Suppression Division, her superior Zhou Bu awaits her transformation; deep in the seal, the Nine-Tailed Fox waits for her to break the binding. She has only one choice: as long as she lives, she slays.
