Inesperadamente, a prima vaidosa da namorada, Nan Sang, meteu-se ao caminho, gabando-se de que um amigo em Pequim estava disposto a pagar um preço astronómico de quinze yuanes, e incitando todos os agricultores da aldeia a insultar e afastar Cheng Dong.
