Fifty-Thousand Sky-High Birthday Banquet
Using her dowry to take over a restaurant, her uncle brought people to eat for free, running up a month of unpaid meal bills. When she went to demand payment, she was instead humiliated; her in-laws urged her to be magnanimous, and her husband also favored the relatives. Heartbroken and disillusioned, she quietly transferred the ownership of the shop and gathered her accounts and evidence. Her uncle threw a lavish birthday banquet and squandered recklessly, leaving a massive unpaid debt when the bill came due. Her in-laws forced her to cover the bottom line, but she produced the evidence and decisively divorced. Freeing herself from this family, she reopened a small restaurant and forged a brand-new life with her own hands.
