Additional Clauses, The Twenty Years No One Saw
At forty, Fang Min has spent twenty years devotedly caring for her paralyzed father, shouldering all the caregiving and medical expenses alone. After her father passes away, his will is read aloud. The family assumes that the entire estate will go to her older brother. Unexpectedly, the lawyer publicly announces an additional clause in the will, requiring proof of years of caregiving expenses and records before it can take effect. Fang Min produces a thick stack of receipts and documents, and under the terms of the additional clause, legally inherits most of the estate. Her father left behind a letter revealing everything he had silently witnessed over those twenty years.
