At 63, Lin Guilan has an 8,000-yuan monthly pension and bought her apartment in full, yet she serves as an unpaid nanny in her son's home. Just for spending five yuan on knee pads, her daughter-in-law flips the table and berates her, while her son only muddles through playing peacemaker. In that instant, she completely wakes up: backing down never earns respect. Taking the house deed with her, she leaves home, establishes ground rules, and charges rent. Facing every scheme from her daughter-in-law's family, she turns their tricks against them and gathers voice recordings as evidence, ultimately exposing their plot on the spot. Her son awakens to his errors, and the daughter-in-law reaps what she sowed. Waking up in one's golden years is never too late: spending your own money and living your own life never requires anyone's permission.
