New Year's Eve Showdown, My Marriage Is a Scam
In the late 1980s, Fang Xun and Luo Jia's marriage appears happy, but a conspiracy lies beneath the surface. Determined to stay with Fang Xun's older brother, Fang Ke, Luo Jia is willing to sacrifice the child she is carrying and secretly registers their illegitimate children under her and Fang Xun's household registration. When the truth comes out during the New Year's Eve dinner, Fang Xun is betrayed by both his wife and his brother. Heartbroken, he divorces Luo Jia and heads south to make his fortune. Luo Jia gets her wish and marries Fang Ke, only to be cruelly manipulated and left destitute. Through hard work, Fang Xun builds a successful business and meets a loving partner who helps heal his wounds. When he later encounters the impoverished Luo Jia back in his hometown, he finally lets go of the past and embraces his new life.

Alla fine degli anni Ottanta, il matrimonio tra Fang Xun e Luo Jia sembra felice, ma in realtà nasconde un complotto. Pur di stare con Fang Ke, il fratello maggiore di Fang Xun, Luo Jia è disposta a sacrificare il bambino che porta in grembo e fa registrare i figli illegittimi dei due nel nucleo familiare suo e di Fang Xun. Durante la cena della vigilia di Capodanno, la verità viene a galla. Fang Xun subisce il doppio tradimento della moglie e del fratello. Con il cuore spezzato, divorzia e parte per il sud in cerca di fortuna. Luo Jia riesce a sposare Fang Ke come desiderava, ma finisce vittima di un complotto e cade in miseria. Grazie al suo impegno, Fang Xun avvia un'attività e riesce a risollevarsi. Incontra anche una persona speciale che lo aiuta a guarire le ferite del passato. Quando torna nella sua città natale e incontra per caso Luo Jia, ormai caduta in disgrazia, riesce finalmente a lasciarsi tutto alle spalle e ad abbracciare una nuova vita.
