Lao Song sells braised pork rice at the factory gate. When rising ingredient costs force him to raise the price to 15 yuan, worker Xiao Wang leads a boycott. Lao Zhang takes advantage by selling cheap braised pork rice for 8 yuan, cutting costs with spoiled overnight meat and stealing all the customers. Lao Song is forced to leave and relocates to the university night market, refusing to compromise on quality pork or sell day-old food. Despite a slow start, his food gains popularity by word of mouth. Soon, factory workers suffer mass food poisoning from Lao Zhang's food, and Lao Zhang is investigated and punished.
