Office worker Lin Man has a disastrous blind date and accidentally damages an artwork, for which painter Gu Ci pays an advance of 58,000 in compensation. To fend off marriage pressure from both sets of parents, the two reach a deal: Lin Man will pose as Gu Ci's girlfriend for six months to clear the debt, setting secret codes to begin their contract romance. As they rehearse scripts for meeting the parents and handle grilling from gallery colleagues and relatives, mutual feelings quietly blossom. After a series of blunders, Lin Man's mother and Gu Ci's mother turn out to be old dance-team friends from senior college; a family dinner leads to an unexpected reunion, and the elders settle on an engagement right on the spot. Pushed into the role of a prospective bride and groom, the two find themselves in quite a dilemma.
