Long ago, in the Lampung region, there was an area called Banjarmasin. Nearby flowed a river filled with bamboo plants, so the local people called it Wawi. One day, a brave and mighty leader named King Penabuh arrived with his family and people. He established a new settlement on higher ground, which was later named Tanjung Manis, in the hope that the people could live harmoniously, peacefully, and help one another. King Penabuh was known for his ability to understand the behavior of various animals. He always protected and helped his people. While clearing the land, King Penabuh heard a cry of pain coming from the river. After searching, he found a kuya, or softshell turtle, trapped beneath a large rock. The king immediately went to rescue it.
