Heart of Grain
Lu Mingchuan, a peasant youth whose hometown was struck by disaster, goes to the city to make a living and gets acquainted with Su Qinghe while working at the Su Family Grain Shop. The wicked merchant Han Wancang monopolizes the grain market, hoarding grain and raising prices, leaving disaster victims suffering amidst a drought. Holding a sense of righteousness in their hearts, Lu Mingchuan and Su Qinghe withstand coercion, rumors, and financial pressure, insisting on distributing grain at fair prices to provide relief to the common people. Joining hands, the two break through layer after layer of obstacles, implement the grain trade conventions, guard the bottom line of the granary, weigh conscience with grain, and do their utmost to protect the food and warmth of a city's people.
