The Apartment Whose Rent Went Up by 1,200
Zhou He has lived carefully in a rented apartment for four years, always taking good care of the property and paying rent on time, never giving the landlord any trouble. But seeing rents rise in the school district nearby, the landlord gets greedy and suddenly raises the rent. Disappointed, Zhou He doesn't argue and decisively packs up and moves out. The landlord gets their wish and rents the apartment to a new tenant willing to pay more, thinking they will make extra money. Unexpectedly, the new tenant has secretly kept pets, quickly causing a series of problems: scratched walls, lingering odors, and damaged furniture. The subsequent repairs cost a great deal of money and effort. Only then does the landlord finally realize that compared with a little extra rent, having a considerate, reliable tenant who takes good care of the property and causes no trouble is a blessing worth more than gold.
