The turbulent later years of Li Dejiang, an aging skilled mechanic. In middle age, Li Dejiang tragically lost his wife and son in a car accident, as well as his elder brother's entire family. He adopted his late brother's son, Li Dawei, and spent all his savings putting him through college, buying him a house, and helping him get married, making his nephew the sole focus of his life. In his old age, Li Dejiang is diagnosed with severe pulmonary bullae and urgently needs life-saving surgery. However, his nephew Li Dawei and niece-in-law Zhang Manli, whom he raised at the cost of everything he had, refuse to pay for his treatment and instead give money to Zhang Manli's family. With nowhere else to turn, Li Dejiang unexpectedly wins a lottery prize worth more than 15 million yuan. After claiming the prize, he intends to live quietly, but Zhang Manli and her mother discover clues. Il a adopté son neveu Li Dawei, le fils de son défunt frère, et a dépensé toutes ses économies pour financer ses études universitaires, lui acheter une maison et le marier, faisant de lui l'unique espoir de sa vie.
