Xu, the investor behind Nanqiao Old Street, spent years diligently supporting local shopkeepers by reducing their rent and investing in infrastructure. Yet greed got the better of Zhao Chuan and others, who tore up their agreements and deliberately fabricated lies to incite online harassment. Faced with such ingratitude, Mr. Xu did not act impulsively. Instead, he upheld the spirit of contractual obligations and relied on comprehensive evidence to defend his rights through legal channels. As the truth came to light, those who spread rumors and caused trouble suffered the consequences of their own actions and paid the appropriate price for breaching their contracts. The old street was eventually renovated and upgraded, demonstrating the powerful role of law and rules in protecting fairness and justice.
