Standing at the Crest of the Tide, A Famous Name in History - Season 1
He came from a butcher's family, where his entire household were black bears capable of lifting cauldrons, yet he alone was frail and sickly, viewed by the whole family as a 'good-for-nothing'. With tearful grit, his mother said: 'My son, go take the imperial examination and carve out a path of survival for yourself!' Who would have expected that from this single examination, he would fight his way all the way from a village scholar to the top imperial scholar! Offering strategies at court, managing water and resisting Japanese pirates, inventing cement, and presenting potatoes—piece by piece, every single deed became a national weapon. On the day he returned home in glory, he carried his most beloved younger sister on his back as she was sent off in a bridal sedan chair, only to turn around and receive an imperial decree to travel far to Taiwan, defending against enemies outside the nation's gates.
